It all started when...

founder, Ofunne AMAKA, CREATED the Cocoa Swatches Instagram account. SHE didn’t have a vision for what it would be or what it could be. All SHE knew was that doing her makeup was a creative extension of HER personality, BUT, SHE was lacking the tools needed to properly indulge in thE practice. It turns out many others felT the exact same way.

It’s no secret that the beauty world has a problem with diversity. In addition to darker complexions being underrepresented in advertisements, they are also often ignored in product development.

True diversity would involve brands supporting the idea of diversity in every facet of their company: from their hiring practices, to their marketing efforts, to their product development, to their communications to their influencer relations.

As a growing beauty conglomerate, Cocoa Swatches aims to celebrate underrepresented complexions and empower beauty lovers through their makeup journey.

Through its high quality content and careful curation on social media, SKINDEEP magazine, and mobile app, Cocoa Swatches is the only brand that offers the latest makeup swatches on various skin tones, beauty inspiration from the real world to the runway, tailored informative tutorials, and an authentic community.

About the Founder/CEO: Ofunne Amaka

"As a darker skinned woman who was heavily invested in the beauty industry, I wanted to discover makeup products that complimented my complexion, but I couldn't find any resources that were catered towards me.

SO I MADE MY OWN.

I created Cocoa Swatches as a solution to a problem that I felt wasn’t being addressed. I wanted to disrupt the industry with a brand that celebrated this niche market that is often forgotten.

Armed with my Masters of Communications and years of experience in beauty, fashion, and tech, I aim to use Cocoa Swatches to promote diversity in the beauty industry."
